The parent education programmes are intended to help parents understand giftedness and to equip them with the knowledge and skills so that they can nurture their children in a supportive home environment.
We provide different learning opportunities ranging from the basic and introductory programmes to the comprehensive and intensive courses for parents with varied backgrounds. We aim to:
- enhance parents’ understanding of gifted education;
- strengthen the parenting skills of parents with gifted children; and
- provide a platform where parents can interactively learn from each other.

Twice-exceptional children are a heterogeneous group with different types of giftedness combined with various special educational needs (e.g. Autism/Asperger, Specific Learning Difficulties and ADHD… etc.) The understanding of and support to this special group of children in Hong Kong is scanty. In view of this situation, we focus our project on the needs of twice exceptional children and their families and develop research-based evidence and support services for them.
The said project includes two stages: research and intervention. At Stage One, the research stage, we collected both quantitative and qualitative data from the families with twice exceptional children. At Stage Two, the intervention stage, a series of workshops for parents were launched for the academic year 2010-2011.
A resource pack that includes the learning experiences of the Project Twice Exceptional will be released in February 2012.
